Plant it and forget it

A couple years ago we planted a few perennial edibles {2 apple trees, hops, tea camellia and some other things I'm forgetting at the moment}. These are things we planted "for the future"--those plants you won't get much reward from immediately {like strawberries and blueberries} but you know sometime you will. This year we got 5 small apples off the ein shemer and the hops exploded with cones overnight.

Oh the sweet surprises of a plant it and forget it kind of garden.

Hops! The climate in Oregon is very conducive to growing hops; everyone grew them. When we made the move to NC I figured this is one item that I wouldn't be able to have in my yard.

Well done! You've given me hope for home brewing in NC.

It's very easy to root a cutting if you want one. Best success with rooting them is in the fall, though, so if you remind me I'll get you a couple then!
