new sounds around the house

The leaves are poking out their pretty little faces. The birds are singing songs of delight.
Everyone is stir crazy, taking full advantage of the sun, should the clouds decide to cover us all in snow again.

I got a few minutes to sit down and draw yesterday afternoon.
Mabel quiets down and stares when I pick up a pen or pencil, it's an amazing moment but only lasts for about 10 minutes then she gets back to discovering her voice.
In all honesty, it's trying. She yells mostly, at the top of her lungs,
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA, AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA, AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA,"
interspersed with giggles and blowing bubbles. There's no spoken language between us, she's only 5 1/2 months old. There's no comprehension of "Shhhh shhh shhhh shhh."
We can't fault her, all we can do is love her.

Then, at bedtime, when just a week ago we had the absolute luxury of an 8:30 bedtime, the crying starts. Loud, desperate, painful sounding heart wrenching wailing that stops immediately when we pick her up. Put her back down, she starts talking again, until you leave the room and the wailing begins again.

So let's just appreciate these few moments of quiet.
