Ah, the pendulum keeps swinging. . .

And the questions are gaining on answers. The beauty of the internet and the collective idea of art as is wired through the internet is an amazing thing. Patterns are a common language and imagery is an ongoing dialogue, where no one owns any particular idea.

But lets discuss the line. And with my own work, my own exposure as an artist to the public: There is a line that is more frequently being crossed, and as sensitive as I am to others work, careful to speak my own voice and not echo a chorus sung beautifully before me, I would like to clearly draw the line. Though perhaps this may sound egocentric and bold. I firmly need to do this, for myself. I validate myself through this blog sometimes, perhaps as an ongoing manifesto, and if people use images they find in my corner of the internet, perhaps these words will seep into their conscience.

I STAND ON GROUNDS THAT WORK STEEPED IN THOUGHT AND EFFORT IS MY OWN AND IS, THEREFORE, COPYRIGHTED UPON CREATION.
YOU MAY NOT USE IT AS YOUR OWN, AND IF YOU FEEL YOU ARE CARRYING FORTH A TORCH, YOU ARE NOT. YOU ARE MERELY TRACING AN IDEA, WITH AN OBVIOUS MISUNDERSTANDING OF THE CONTENT AND CONCEPT.

Conceptual work is thought driven, hence conceptual. As a firm believer in "feminism", which equates to equality and respect across the board, when you make something of mine on your own, you are mistaking the action for the voice and absolutely misunderstanding the concept of respect and the lack thereof being a tragedy.

Once again, this image is out in internet land, this action was my own in 2001-2002. I did this, I conceived this, I executed this. I thought the process through and I did it in my voice with my own artistic dialog. Perhaps you appreciate the sentiment, but if you do, then you should not steal my efforts, simply because stealing is not respectful.

THIS IS MINE. I DID THIS. STEALING IT MAKES ME VERY SORRY I'VE USED THE INTERNET TO SHARE IT WITH THE WORLD. ONE OF MY GREATEST JOYS IS TO SHARE, PLEASE DO NOT DEPRIVE ME OF THE ABILITY TO SHARE.

YOU ARE MISSING THE POINT OF MY WORK.
YOU ARE MAKING AN EMPTY BOX AND REDUCING MY EFFORTS TO SIMPLY AN ACTION AND IT IS MUCH MORE THAN THIS.

PLEASE STOP.

I checked out the US Copyright website briefly and it does state that works automatically have a copyright on creation, but have you considered actually registering your art with them? Or I wonder if just signing and dating would be sufficient. I'm so sorry this has happened to you, you works are fabulous and obviously the work of an extremely creative mind.
