In the spirit of environmentalism, read this in awe, gasp aloud even. Here in Mecklenburg County we are on water restrictions due to "severe drought" conditions. It's hot. It's dry. Not much is getting accomplished outside, and I don't know how I did it, but the flower beds are all getting by just fine. We're mercy killing the back garden (the veggie one) to ease up on water use.

That's outrageous and sad.

WTF! Ugh, that makes me so angry!

In positive news, the city of Raleigh is looking into providing rain barrels at a reduced price to its residents. So at least *someone* in Raleigh has the right idea...

I think that would be great for Raleigh. Charlotte does that, too, but they're still between $75 and $100.

The good side to those rules would be to see more homeowners in the area take the initiative to be more innovative with their watering (ie. rain barrels, using gray water)

wow..... isn't it 2007? what's with people not being hip to being eco-friendly? it's not the 1950s anymore. that is so sad.

people can also collect water in buckets while taking a shower, although it would take a lot of showers to water a lawn that way!
