Last night I used up the last of the Port brought back from our honeymoon in Portugal. It was a tiny bottle, a part of a gift from Jose, the owner of one of the restaurants in our village.

Inspired by k8tron on flickr, I made a Port and Dijon sauce for our veggie-chicken- substitute/broccoli/pasta dinner. Oh boy was it good. And I think I could've substituted soy milk for the whole milk (which was a substitution for half and half) and it would've been just as tasty. I'll do it again, vegan version, soon.

I fell in love with the slow life of Portugal (slow for us, since we were on vacation) and daydream daily of going back. Good coffee, cheap beer, fresh food and daily walks through the countryside?? heaven.

So it's no wonder I fell in love with Planeta Tangerina's (2) illustrations. Beautiful, serenely cheerful, perfectly Portuguese.

No way! Thanks for the mention. I'm going to make it again soon.

I made a ginger soy stir fry tonight with broccoli, portabella mushrooms, carrots and chicken. It was awesome cause I used fresh ginger. Such an incredible difference. You could sub tofu.
